Situated in a Florida Gulf Coast destination known the world over for its seafood industry, this well established property has operated successfully as part of the Coombs House for twelve years. A short distance from famed Apalachicola Bay and the sugar-sand beaches of the Gulf of Mexico, the Victorian Age mansion & Camellia Hall occupy a prime corner in the town's Victorian district.

The village of Apalachicola has a rich history both for its thriving commercial fishing industry and as a busy port from which much of north Florida's cotton and lumber was shipped during the 19th and 20th centuries. More recently, the cotton and logging industries have faded, but fishing remains as vibrant as the multicolored Victorians scattered throughout the historic district. Today, restaurants, galleries, antique emporiums and boutiques fill spaces that were once occupied by cotton warehouses and a ship's chandlery.

Ideal situation for entrepreneurial new owner(s) looking to build a business! The platform is sound, permits and licenses exist, furniture, fixtures and equipment are in place. All that is needed for success is a new owner with sufficient vision and entrepreneurial resources to operate and grow the business. Possibilities include: luxury B&B, weddings & events, small meetings, restaurant, long-term lodging.

Apalachicola, Florida

Relax. This definitely is not the Florida your grandmother's canasta club retired to. Pre-Civil War and Victorian homes, art galleries, a scattering of bed and breakfasts and Southern manners balance the hardworking fishing heritage of Apalachicola on the Gulf of Mexico.

This fun little town is filled with fabulous restaurants, eclectic shops, art galleries, live theatre, a distinct personality and lots to do.

The National Trust

for Historic Preservation
Named Apalachicola as One of America's
Dozen Distinctive Destinations

Fishing remains one of Apalachicola's (or "Apalach" as the natives call it) main industries. Oystermen or "tongers" use scissor-style rakes that resemble tongs to harvest some 2,500,000 pounds of oysters each year from their twenty-foot boats. Thanks to the abundance and variety of fish, sport fishing is now a top tourist draw.

Other outdoor options center on the Gulf, beaches, rivers and nature reserves in the area. Four barrier islands with miles of pristine beaches and state and national forests with wildlife preserves and refuges are ideal for canoeing, kayaking, hiking, nature walks, bird watching and photography. The marshes, bayous and estuaries around Apalachicola teem with wildlife and support more than 1,300 species of plants, 180 species of fish, 315 species of birds and 360 species of marine mollusks (including oysters).
